Well it looks like the deal where Microsoft had intent to purchase Adware vendor Claria, has come to an end. This article [www.clickz.com] points that Microsoft dropped the initiative due to PR concerns. Not very surprising since Claria has been attributed to intrusive Adware/Spyware. (Intrusive Adware doesn't notify you when it sneaks onto your machine.)

Recently, Microsoft got heat after their adware-checking program downgraded the severity [www.eweek.com] of Claria's components. This was seen as impending a deal with Claria and many felt this was Microsoft misusing their position as it is often felt.
